The Foundation awards scholarship and grants in three categories. These awards provide recipients opportunities to develop their expertise in leading professional learning within their schools and districts and to engage them in the broader Learning Forward community for ongoing professional collaboration and support.

New Grant Opportunity
Leading for Learning: Sybil Yastrow Superintendent’s Grant
The application deadline has passed.
This three-year, $40,000 district/IFN partnership grant for superintendents was established in honor Sybil Yastrow. The superintendent who is awarded this grant will, in collaboration with a district leadership team, lead his or her district to develop a culture of high-performing professional learning communities to achieve Learning Forward's purpose.

High Needs Schools
The Foundation places a priority on assisting high-needs schools. To read the Foundation's definition of what constitutes a high-needs school, download this high-needs list. IFN recognizes that these indicators do not appropriately cover the concerns of Canadian districts. We request that Canadian grant applicants describe what they consider evidence regarding their most pressing high-needs indicators.

Affiliate Grant Scholarship
IFN is making available three grants to assist affiliates in improving professional learning within their state(s) or province(s). Affiliates may apply for one of three grants of up to $2,000 to develop and implement a year-long learning experience focusing on the implementation of the new Learning Forward definition of professional learning. Successful grants will focus on engaging professional learning leaders from high-need districts in a learning experience to build capacity within their districts to implement Learning Forward's definition and improve educator and student performance. One grant each will be awarded to a large affiliate, a medium-sized affiliate, and a small affiliate.

The Bridge Builder Fund
This scholarship fund, honoring the memory of Don Richardson, supports registration for a principal to attend three successive Learning Forward Annual Conferences (three days each) and three pre-conferences (one day each). The awardee must have been an active member of Learning Forward for three successive years and must have successfully led a high-priority school to meet AYP for two consecutive years. The scholarship also provides an executive coach for ten sessions, interspersed according to need during the first year that the scholarship is active. The coach will assist the principal in applying what is learned at the conference in his or her school in order to improve student academic performance.

The E6 Grant
This leadership grant supports team efforts to advance Learning Forward's purpose: Every educator engages in effective professional learning every day so that every student achieves. The grant awards up to $5000 and the registration fee for the three-day Learning Forward Annual Conference for three members of the project team.

Lynne Chidley Academy Fund
This scholarship fund develops leadership in the field of professional learning by providing two scholarships annually for tuition to participate in Learning Forward's Academy for Staff Developers. Both scholarships are for educators working with large populations of underserved students. One scholarship is for a school-based teacher leader/coach who aspires to a role of leadership in the arena of professional learning. The second scholarship is for a district leader responsible for professional learning at the system level.

Carmen Nylund Memorial Fund Academy Scholarship
The Carmen Nylund Memorial Fund Academy Scholarship provides opportunities to develop leaders in professional learning.
To be eligible to submit this application, you must be a public school educator from one of the following
South Carolina school districts: Allendale County, Dillon County #2, Florence County #4, Hampton County #2, Jasper County,
Lee County, Marion County #7, and Orangeburg County # 3.
This is an application for a $3,500 tuition scholarship to enroll in the Learning Forward Academy, plus up to $4,500 in travel, lodging, and meal expenses to participate in the Academy. By submitting this application, you are applying only for the Carmen Nylund Memorial Fund Academy Scholarship. You will be considered for the Scholarship only if Learning Forward selects you to participate in its Academy for the years 2010-2012. You must apply separately to Learning Forward to be selected to participate in the Academy.
