Oct. 25 – Nov. 24
 |
Executive Director Stephanie Hirsh facilitates a program designed for those new to the field of professional development, as well as more experienced educators interested in a basic review of the fundamentals. Participants in this program will develop an understanding of foundational knowledge of the field, and will be able to identify key events in the evolution of professional learning, key figures and their influencing ideas, and key research and the practices it influences. Program assignments will focus on the work of leaders in the field and an analysis of their ideas and research, and will be shared with colleagues as all participants strengthen their knowledge base. In addition, program participants will be able to explain the major concepts underlying the definition of and standards for professional development, as well as develop three next actions for applying them in their work. Participants will also use the resources on our website to answer common questions and challenges presented to new staff developers. |
