New Standards for Professional Learning

Last year Learning Forward released its revised Standards for Professional Learning, which define the indicators of quality and recommended practices in professional learning. In this five-week e-learning program, participants will explore the standards and their implications for the future of professional learning. The program will focus on developing an understanding of the standards, what they look like in practice, how they can be introduced to various stakeholder groups, and how to integrate the standards into current and future policies at all levels. Participants will gain strategies for implementing the standards in their schools, districts, and states, and will be prepared to champion a new era of professional learning focused on increased educator effectiveness and results for students. All program participants will receive a copy of the Standards for Professional Learning book. |
Through weekly live sessions and collaborative group activities, participants will:
- Develop an understanding of the newly revised Standards for Professional Learning.
- Distinguish the similarities and differences between the new and former standards and their implications for teacher practice and student learning.
- Examine how the standards look in practice.
- Acquire strategies for introducing the standards to various stakeholder groups.
- Gain strategies to implement the standards into practice.
- Explore ways of integrating the new standards into policy.
Live sessions for this program will take place at 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Eastern on the following days:
- Wednesday, Feb. 22
- Wednesday, Feb. 29
- Wednesday, March 7
- Wednesday, March 14
- Wednesday, March 21
Each program is five weeks in length and is available for just
$199 to members and $249 to nonmembers.*Group rates are also available. For groups of four or more, each member of the group may attend for $149.

Jacqueline Kennedy is the associate director of strategic initiatives at Learning Forward. Prior to joining Learning Forward, she was the director of professional development for the Frisco Independent School District. She also served as the coordinator of planning, evaluation, and research at the Irving Independent School District, and worked in the Dallas Independent School District as an adult education specialist, a program manager, and a school counselor. She is a member of Learning Forward Academy Class of 2011.
