Learning Forward to Disseminate Effective Teaching Insights Research from the foundation's Measures of Effective Teaching project is carefully examining the effective practices of the most successful teachers. Meanwhile, there are numerous school districts developing tools and aligning professional development that can transform how teachers assess and instruct their students. Learning Forward will disseminate the information from these and other efforts to the practitioners who will implement successful practices to transform professional development, improve instruction, and advance student performance. "The foundation's research efforts are critical and so timely – developing a deeper understanding of effective teaching will be at the heart of guaranteeing quality learning for all children," said Stephanie Hirsh, executive director of Learning Forward. "I am pleased that Learning Forward will have the opportunity to ensure that practitioner-oriented resources and tools reach our 13,000 members as well as other key education leaders." The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has funded Learning Forward's work in the past, most recently through a generous grant to support a multi-year research study on the status of professional learning. ### Download the PDF of this press release.About Learning Forward (formerly National Staff Development Council) Learning Forward's purpose is ensuring that every educator engages in effective professional learning every day so every student achieves.
